Crimestoppers Scotland Summer Youth Safety Campaign 2025

Protecting Scotland’s Youth This Summer

The 2025 Crimestoppers Scotland Summer Youth Safety Campaign focuses on preventing violence, addressing the dangers of illegal off-road biking, and promoting prosocial behaviours amongst scotland’s young people as they head into the summer holidays. Launching a bold, nationwide initiative that puts safety, community, and positive choices front and centre.

With strong backing from Network Rail Scotland, Police Scotland, local authorities, and grassroots youth organisations, this youth safety campaign ensures young people across Scotland receive the guidance, resources, and encouragement needed to stay safe and speak up 100% anonymously through Fearless.org.

Campaign Launch at Kilmarnock Station: A Community United

The campaign officially began on Saturday, 21st June, at Kilmarnock Train Station, coinciding with the start of the school summer break. This symbolic launch brought together:

  • Local youth from Ayrshire and beyond
  • Police Scotland community teams
  • Youth engagement officers
  • Network Rail safety advocates
  • Volunteers and Fearless ambassadors

Interactive sessions, live music, and social media-ready content helped spread key safety messages in a format that resonates with Gen Z and young Millennials.

Key Safety Focus Areas for Summer 2025

1. Violence Prevention

Reduce the rise in seasonal violence by helping young people:

  • Recognise early signs of conflict escalation
  • Choose non-violent resolutions
  • Understand the consequences of group influence and peer pressure
  • Access safe spaces and support channels

Police Scotland will deliver outreach in communities with elevated youth incident rates, while online content provides accessible guidance on conflict avoidance and bystander intervention.

2. Illegal Off-Road Biking Dangers

Across Scotland, illegal off-road biking poses serious risks. This youth safety campaign targets:

  • Urban and semi-rural hotspots (Glasgow, Dundee, Lanarkshire, Inverness)
  • Education around legal off-roading vs. illegal activity
  • Real-life stories of injury and loss
  • Local authority reporting channels

Workshops offer engaging simulations and virtual reality experiences to demonstrate the hazards of unregulated off-road activity near rail lines, parks, and residential areas.

3. Promoting Prosocial Choices

Nurturing a culture where young people:

  • Make decisions that benefit peers and community
  • Take pride in supporting others
  • Choose to avoid risky behaviours and unsafe environments
  • Know how and when to speak up anonymously at Fearless.org

Through our peer-led events, young people will explore decision-making scenarios and the long-term impact of their actions.

Digital Engagement on Youth Platforms

This year’s campaign expands its reach by embedding tailored content on platforms most used by our youth:

  • TikTok: Bite-sized content with real stories and youth influencer endorsements
  • Snapchat: Geofilter events and safety quizzes with prizes
  • Instagram: Reels from youth ambassadors, behind-the-scenes clips, and advice posts
  • YouTube Shorts: Short docu-style videos covering topics like friendship and looking out for mates
