Friday 8th of December

Inverness Leisure

Scottish celtic-rock group Skerryvore  will be coming to Inverness this weekend!

Skerryvore has been on a momentous journey since the group was founded in 2005 on the westerly island of Tiree, from their early days in Scottish west coast halls and bars, to festival crowds in the USA, Canada, Australia and throughout the UK and Europe.

The end of 2022 saw the eight-piece trad group play to thousands at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow as part of ‘Hoolie at the Hydro’. Which only catapulted their start in to 2023, with their new single You & I featuring on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 Breakfast Show.

With a mix of bagpipes, fiddles, accordions, and whistles, alongside guitar and vocals, underpinned by driving bass, drums and keys, Skerryvore represent the best in contemporary Scottish traditional music. Their sixth studio album demonstrates the wide range of influences the individual musicians bring to the mix – a unique fusion of folk, trad, pop and rock.

Tickets for Skerryvore can be bought from or in person from Caffery’s Menswear in the Eastgate Shopping Centre, Inverness

Bjorn Again

Inverness Leisure

The Björn Again show will be taking place at the Inverness Leisure Centre on Saturday 9th December 2023.

The show is hailed as the most popular and successful show of its type, having been acknowledged by Björn Ulvaeus from ABBA himself as being the show that single-handedly initiated the ABBA revival in the late 1980s and early 1990s, which brought about ABBA Gold, Muriel’s Wedding, and Mamma Mia!

The internationally acclaimed Björn Again show was created and founded in 1988 in Melbourne, by Australian Director and Musician Rod Stephen. Designed as a rocked-up, light-hearted, satirical ABBA spoof, the show rapidly achieved world-wide cult status. The enduring appeal of ABBA is reflected in the ongoing success of the Björn Again show, having amassed 5,500 performances in 75 countries in 35 years.

Callum Beattie

Inverness Leisure

Callum has been hard at music for almost half his life. Making his own chances, taking chances and, for sure, being a chancer. The Edinburgh-born singer-songwriter has progressed from bad gigs in pubs, to where he is now. A singer-songwriter with a punchy, rousing, emotive and gloriously catchy debut album that scored a No.1 in The Official Scottish Albums Chart. After residing in London and Berlin for a few years, Callum has decided to move back to Scotland. His new material is a collection of songs clawed from the raw stuff of existence, nostalgic patriotism and bleeding love.

Inverness Cars & Coffee

In November and December we will be collecting New Unwrapped Gifts for MFR Cash For Kids “Mission Christmas”

Loch Ness: They Created a Monster

Eden Court Theatre

This new take on the culture surrounding Loch Ness monster hunters in the 1970’s. This is an affectionate, funny, shocking and wonderous documentary feature.

From London, from Japan, from the USA and across the world – they came to a remote, cold lake in the Highlands of Scotland.

WW2 veterans got together for one last adventure, excited scientists and hairy hippies – all competed in the frantic search for what they passionately believed could be the natural history discovery of the century – capturing evidence of the Loch Ness Monster!

Rumours and sightings of a dinosaur like creature had persisted at the Loch for decades, and the 1970s saw a frenzy of Monster Hunting. No qualifications were required to join the hunt – just enthusiasm and wonder. Anyone could roll up on the banks of Loch Ness. Bust out an old camera. And declare themselves part of the hunt for Nessie.

There was a well organised official expedition, there was the International Loch Ness Monster Search Party and then there were the dedicated ‘loners’. But the deeper they looked… the darker it got…

Monster egos, fakes and frustrations, rivalries and ridicule meant that Loch Ness quickly became home to a very different type of beast. As picture after picture were exposed as fakes – or at least dubious – the scene at Loch Ness became fraught and volatile…

This is a fresh take on Scotland’s most famous story. Humane and hilarious – this is the unbelievable story behind the unbelievable story.
